GURU--- by hook or by crook

GURU- the visionary, the wonderful work of the genius Mani Ratnam, has served to the various interests of mine........ as a person and as a film lover. The movie is a real Mani Ratnam masterpiece , which probably no one else could have made.

For a film lover the movie was a real delight....from the first scene to the last scene. The very first scene where Guru speaks, was of true Mani Ratnam style..with the screen flickering between ..Guru speaking a few words and the black screen with A.R. Rehman's vocal at the background. Then the last scene where Guru speaks "mein baniya hoon..is awaaaz ko akiri din ke liye mein ne bacha ke raka tha" was a one line explanation to his silence in the past.

The movie also makes one realise that its not a great thing being a "jack of all trades.." ... the wonderful scene where Guru tells the court "mein horse race nahi jata....magar itna pata hai ki mera dandey ka mein sabse achha kiladi hoon" stresses on the fact that the market need people who are " master of any one trade " and not "jack of all trades".

I loved the theme of the film " Be the king of your trade either by hook or crook......as long as it does good to people."

The movie also reminded me the theme of the famous Mani Ratnam film Nayakan, starring Kamal Hasan, which states " Something which does good to people can never be wrong" ..... but I really love the dialogue in Tamil...." Naal peruku naladhu na adhu tappu kadayadu"
